Volume III
The third in my ongoing "volume" series of large hollow vases.
This one is in Irish Ash, from a stormfall tree that was on my parent's farm, in Co Clare, Ireland.
Made from a single piece of fresh timber, turned and carefully hollowed out to a thin shell of only a couple of millimetres thickness, and allowed to lightly deform while it dried.
Olive or "brownheart" ash has a huge variety in its colour and texture across its heartwood, and this piece also has some light spalting coming through the sapwood.
